Audience
The Stroke Simulation course at North Bristol Trust is aimed at healthcare workers who are involved in the assessment and management of acute stroke patients in hospitals around the South West of England, including:

Stroke registrars, specialty doctors and senior clinical fellows

Medical registrars involved with acute stroke calls and thrombolysis decisions

Course Content
The Stroke Simulation Course features six acute stroke scenarios in small group sessions where each attendee will be able to lead a stroke call as well as be part of the team. Each course covers:

Thrombolysis - including complex situations and managing complications
-
Thrombectomy - including the identification of thrombectomy candidates, inclusion and exclusion criteria and how to make a referral to the thrombectomy centre

Management of acute intracranial haemorrhage
-
Effective leadership, team working and human factors
-
Full debriefing after each scenario with structured feedback and case discussion


Team and Venue
The Stroke Simulation Course is run by experienced clinicians who work at Southmead Hospital, a comprehensive stroke centre in Bristol that delivers 24/7 mechanical thrombectomy. Held in the Simulation Space at the Learning and Research Centre, each scenario offers high-fidelity simulation with use of cutting-edge technology, including bespoke simulated intranet and use of real CT scans to increase the authenticity.
